From an IT perspective, Daimler TSS has made significant contributions towards the successful implementation of this innovative project by developing the back office and community portal system components for car2go. Following the go-live at the end of March 2009 in Ulm, the operating area has now been extended to include Neu-Ulm. On the international front, car2go will be launched in Austin, Texas at the end of this year. Not to mention the numerous requests from various cities in Germany and overseas. Currently, the TSS team is tuning the car2go system to prepare it for its international debut.

The “ÖkoGlobe” is the first award for the automobile and mobility sector where only ecological criteria are considered. “ÖkoGlobe 2007” was originally founded as a joint initiative by the artist HA Schult, the CAR-Center Automotive Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen, the DEVK insurance company in Cologne and the automobile club ACV. Its patron is the federal minister for the environment, Sigmar Gabriel.
